About GEMA
Who We Are
GEMA Cultural Association (GCA) is a non-political Community Organization that brings together communities of Gikuyu, Embu, Meru and the Akamba, predominantly living around Mount Kenya and the Lower Eastern Areas of Kenya. They are also dispersed all over Kenya since most of them are farmers and traders.
Our history
GEMA was founded in 1971 as a Limited Company with the main purpose of buying and redistributing land to the people of Gikuyu, Embu and Meru, who had experienced dispossession of their land during the colonial oppressive regime that had forcefully taken their prime land and put them into forced labour.
GEMA Leadership
In cultural and community organizations like GEMA, leadership means honoring the past while embracing the future, creating a bridge between generations, and ensuring that cultural values are passed down with pride and relevanc
